Bom dia André:
Estou com um problema enorme com o ubuntu 9.04.
Fiz a instalação com as versões amd64 e i386 e o problema se repete.
Executei o comando pppoeconf para conexão com a internet, fiz todos os downloads atualizando todos pacotes,naveguei pela internet e depois fiz a instalação dos drivers restritos.Aí o sistema pede para ser reiniciado.
Quando volta não consigo mais a conexão da internet. Quando da intalação do pppoeconf pedi conexão no inicio de cada seção.
Não funciona o pon dsl-provider. Fico totalmente vendido, sem poder fazer mais nada. Isto não acontecia na versão 8.10.
Sabe de alguma dica?
Agradeço antecipadamente.

If you have a network connection which is not working properly, you can use a few tools to help diagnose what the problem is.
Most of the tools in this section require use of the Terminal, which you can open by pressing Applications → Accessories → Terminal.
Get information about the current connection
ifconfig is intended to allow you to change the settings of your network connections, but it can also be used to list information about the current connection.
1.
Press Applications → Accessories → Terminal to open a Terminal
2.
Type ifconfig eth1 in the Terminal and press Enter, replacing eth1 with the name of your network interface if it is different.

inet addr gives the current IP address of the connection

HWaddr gives the MAC address of your network device

Upgrading your existing Ubuntu installation | Ubuntu
Upgrading using the alternate CD/DVD
Use this method if the system being upgraded is not connected to the Internet.
1. Download and burn the alternate installation CD.
2. Insert it into your CD-ROM drive.
3. A dialog will be displayed offering you the opportunity to upgrade using that CD.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
If the upgrade dialog is not displayed for any reason, you may also run the following command using Alt F2:
gksu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade"
Or in Kubuntu run the following command using Alt F2:
kdesu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade"
